Internet connection randomly freezes. [MAC OS X]

Okay, well I'm on my brand spanking new MacBook Pro 13' and I love it. But I have ran into a problem. I'll be browsing the web, downloading some torrents, chatting on skype, listening to music on iTunes and stuff perfectly fine for a few hours and then all of the sudden the internet connection just stops and I can't do anything internet related until I reboot my Mac.

Any ideas? I think it's my router but I'm not sure :/

Just ask for more info if you need it.
(Didn't know what info to supply)

Thanks LQ.

Have you tried anything less dynastic other than rebooting.. like re-establishing your internet connection?

What about your logs.. what do they say the reason for the disconnect is?

Spoken to isp? What type of connection (wireless, cable..)?

Do other (friends, neighbors) experience this too?

It *sounds like* a modem/router 'lease' is expiring (more likely if your disconnect is EXACTLY at the same time intervals -- every time).

Well, so far I have disabled/re-enabled Wireless card and tried renewing the DHCP lease, to no avail. The connection is wireless and I don't know If anyone else has experienced it because they are never on that long. (I hardly ever reboot usually.)

OSX?

Ermm OK this is LinuxQuestions not OSX Questions. OSX is not based on Linux, it's UNIX/BSD.

Don't be so mean... Not a very constructive post there.

Okay, well here's some more info I can give y'all.
When it freezes, everything just hangs endlessly. Firefox, Transmission, and the ping command. The ping command never gets a reply and never terminates. Just hangs with a blinking cursor. I reset my router to all defaults and it still happens. I then have to reboot because everything I try (turning the connection off/on, going by Ethernet, renewing DHCP lease) doesn't help a wee-bit. The ONLY thing that works is a reboot, which fixed everything. My DHCP lease is one day; this happens after approx. 4 hours. Could it be I have my torrent client set to accept 999 incoming connections at any one time? That never materializes though, I usually get a max of approx. 200. I'm not sure what else to say except now I am led to believe this may be my Mac instead of my router and the fact that this is ticking me off really bad.

You might want to add something substantial to your last post.. the Mods get angry at 'bumps'

Have you had any progress? What about neighbors.. have they had the same problem.

How about the Mac 'bug' forums.. have you checked them out.. or tried to file a report and see what they say?

I'm not versed on BSD.. but either way it sounds like either a bug or config switch needs to be adjusted.. if we could just find out which one it is..

I actually fixed this by assigning it a static IP address and switching to a channel with less interference.

Oh well, FWIW for others, problem solved.
