port for Mac

I recently realized I could use Macports on Mac in much similar ways as apt-get in Ubuntu.

However when I tried to get okular running after port install, it fails to install.

Is port actually reliable in general (i.e. am I doing something wrong) or is this something you would expect?

Thanks in advance.

MacPorts have worked fine for me, on the rare occasions I've had to use them. What sort of error are you getting? Perhaps you need to have the X11 stuff installed (just a guess).
