ms office on mac or darwin
 
my girlfriend uses mac with ms-office for mac at her job
at home she uses windows xp with ms-office

if we get a new amd athalon 64 computer i would like to
use darwin or bsd but i dont know if the office for mac version will
work on either of these platforms. I think it should work on
darwin but i dont know what darwin has for a desktop interface.
or will that work on bsd

No, it will not work on Darwin. It's a common misconception that Darwin is just a free version of OS X. Darwin is the BSD kernel and userland for OS X (kind of like a sub-system). The bulk of the user experience in OS X is the GUI interaction, and that is all proprietary to Apple and closed-source. Darwin does not have Aqua (the OS X presentation system), so you're out of luck.
