gnome-terminal in cygwin

When I start gnome-terminal I get this output to the xterm.

** (gnome-terminal:3852) WARNING **: Error setting PTY size: Invalid argument.
** (gnome-terminal:3852) WARNING **: Error setting PTY size, using defaults: Invalid argument.

** (gnome-terminal:3852) WARNING **: Error setting PTY size: Invalid argument.

gnome-terminal starts with a menu but no prompt.

not a fix...

I dont have an answer for gnome-terminal....
BUT, I use mrxvt in cygwin and it works great!
compile is a breeze... i'm doing tranparent, tabbed shell-ing everyday...

Did you ever solve this problem? I'm running into exactly the same thing.

I second JurgyMan most emphatically

Found this blog entry that proves mrxvt is an easy install in Cygwin:
http://vsingleton.blogspot.com/2008/...ing-mrxvt.html

It also showed me the syntax that "settles the argument" between a termninal, like rxvt, that doesn't need XWindows to run, and XWin itself: to wit, get behind both and start your X application by giving it the screen number by way of your machine's IP.

Code:
sxxxx@resurgam:$export DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0
The catch is that when you start XWindows from the same terminal session, you have to tell it to -multiwindow itself.

But it IS great. It even displayed my "current directory" title bar tweak in the first tab (at the bottom of the window, but hey, nothing's perfect).
