Gentoo-OSX

I recently got a Powerbook, and being a Gentoo Linux user I thought I'd try out Gentoo OSX. I have to say it is a pretty intersting idea.

While it doesn't support nearly as many packages as fink, I think it meshes better with the development tools (uses actual xCode tools 1.5 or 2.0 if you are lucky enough to be an ADC member with Tiger). It also supposively can compile X apps for the x version that is included with OSX so it won't cause you to have to have two different xservers.

I'm going to start working on getting GTK to compile with this... should be fun...

Anyone interested in checking out this stuff should look at the Gentoo OSX How-to.

This is interesting...so basically all this does is set up OS X to use portage to install software? I have tried using fink, but gave up. I just don't understand what's going on. So if this is true: "It also supposively can compile X apps for the x version that is included with OSX so it won't cause you to have to have two different xservers" I would be very interested. Have you confirmed this?

I am getting another HDD, and was going to dual boot OS X and Gentoo PPC. Does anyone have experience with this?
