Using apt-get to update

When I did apt-get update, apt-get upgrade and apt-get dist-upgrade, not all of my software upgraded. FireFox stayed at 1.5.0.8 (instead of 2.0) and KDE at 3.5.3 (instead of 3.5.5). With FF, I have been instructed to add another repo. Do I have to do anything similar with KDE. How many repos do I have to add to get all of my software up-to-date?

To get Firefox 2.0 from the repositories you need to add:
http://apt.mepis.org/backports32-6.0/ mepis main.
You won't find KDE 3.5.5 in the MEPIS repositories. In the MEPIS Wiki there are detailed instructions for updating to KDE 3.5.5. Be cautious doing that. It's a bit more involved than adding a repo. Of course if you want you can download FF 2.0 from Mozilla and extract to the directory of your choice. Remember to create symlinks from your Java and Flash directories to the /firefox/plugins directory so Java and flash will be enabled.
