USB mouse doesn't work under Mepis 3.4.3

Hello!
I just installed both Mepis 3.3 and 3.4.3, but my Logitech USB mouse is only recognized under 3.3, therefore I have to replug it in every time I start the machine.
I understand it is not a complicated question, so any suggestion is much appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf (on the one that's not working) check the mouse section. maybe change the protocol to 'auto'. also check the device name (is it /dev/input/mice or /dev/psaux?
