Why, exactly, are we (I'm guilty too) using Unstable packages all the time!? Why can't Mepis (or another beautiful, easy distro) be based on Stable (or Testing) so that when I give it to people it doesn't break their machine the next week? So much hassle! These are our support issues, these are the reasons Linux isn't gaining ground. In my opinion.

really just a rant, not expecting a solid answer from anyone.

you can set it to use testing you just havent bothered to:
in /etc/apt/apt.conf
change the word unstable to testing

thanks, mos, i am aware of that, it just seems that the community is so focused on bleeding edge that we sacrifice stability in our quest to try to spread linux. my two pence.
