sorting the same kind of files in a folder?

i googled around and still can't find an answer to this.

Talking about windows first, when i go to a folder in windows i can click on View and sort the same kind of files. Folders,Mp3's,Word docs, all together top to bottom.

When i go to most Linux folders, there is a mish-mash (not together) of all kinds of files. granted they are in numeric and alphabetical order.

WHAT I want to do in Linux is: organize them like windows. Folders all together, Mp3's, Kwrite docs etc.

NOT---2 folders,3 mp3's,1 folder 2 kwrite files 2 more folders,5 mp3's,2 jpg's,5 folders ....etc.

thx---hope i made myself clear

If you use konqueror file manager, click on View, then Sort, By type.

Hmm strange.

Just checked again and it is definitely there on mine.
Konqueror file-mamanger/View and in the drop down menu Sort.
It's after Icon Size and before preview.

PS Make sure you use the konqueror file-manager

I have the same title bar.
Maybe you are trying to change the browser.
Try this.
Settings/Load view profile/filemanagement.
Then View/Sort/By type

ok--i went through all that and i got a "insensitive sort" on the "view" dropdown afterwards. here's a pic of my Konqueror.(couldn't get the drop down view portion to stay)

Your snapshot shows you are in the browser part.

To get to the filemanager part you have to do the three steps above.
Then it should change to filemanager mode.
After that you should see Sort in the View menu.

Otherwise I'm stumped.
