showfoto is losing buttons and menus

Hello,

showfoto is losing buttons and drop-down menus (File, Fix, Transform, et cetera) on the top bar. I have tried to re-configure the top bar, but could only manage to get a bunch of buttons, and no drop-down menus.

Must I remove showfoto and install it again?

Also, showfoto crashes often, usually while closing a file (image) with other images on the thumbnail bar. I mashed the "backtrace" button, but an error says I need gdb so no backtrace was done.

Talking Time to re-install showfoto

Yes you should re-install. And also install gdb with synaptic at the same time as you re-install showfoto.

Found 'gdb' - thanks. I can only find 'showfoto' as a part of 'digikamimageplugins,' and 'apt-get' says it does not recognize 'showfoto' - I must be doing something wrong.

Re-install the digikam plugins. Then if you don't like showfoto anymore then try showimg. It looks pretty good and is in synaptic. So is gwenview. I have tried gwenview and it works good too.

I tried them both. They work great for organizing. I like the extra gadgets that 'showfoto' has. I think that I have found my 'problem' - after reinstalling digikamplugins, the missing buttons were still missing. I dug around and found 'showfotorc' which seems to have all the settings that I want to set back to default. I moved this file, to let 'showfoto' create a new one, but some of the 'problem' missing items still existed. Hrmpf. I guess I should just wait until I do a full installation of the next Mep.

Smile

Maybe it's time to re-install. Just check the box in the installer to re-use home. Then use the same username and passwords. During the re-install you will advised that the home for 'your username' exists and would you like to re-use it? Say yes and all your email, bookmarks, music, videos etc will all still be there when the smoke all clears. Plus the missing buttons should be back.
