This is a BIOS issue, you have to get into BIOS at startup and reinstall from CD/USB if thats a last resort and you need to reinstall without backingup, anti-x cannot lock you out.
I have a similiar problem, I just cannot remember my pass.

You could try out mounting/demounting all devices via antiX Control Center in the Disk Menu>Mount Connected Devices> clicking on List and just type in the ones you want to mount.
For example an USB HDD or Thumb Drive is usually under dev/sdb1 or dev/sdc1. Type what you see under the List Window, you should be fine. Hope it helps.

The hell you say? Can you be a little more clearer? What version of AntiX? Did you md5sum check AntiX iso before installing to your computer? What computer?

Since we are necro posting. Open a terminal and post the readout of

Code:
inxi -F
PersonallY. If I was in your shoes. Since you say you are locked out and AntiX left your computer useless.
I would Dban or Killdisk it an move on. Problem solved.

can't run commands antix won't allow without root pass code running it on a Dell optiplex gx 260 and system information is also. locked away by default pass code. we wiped two successfully but the other remain unless as the rest aren't able to boot from cd or usb due to antix root password which is the warning it displays. it's a lesson learnt never use antix it's a pc killer, it's done it to at least 10 PC's two computer shops have tried to remove antix without success

Sorry to hear your difficulties. I've been using antix 13.2 for a year or more now very stable and worry free for me. Maybe you could take your problem over to the antix forums. They have very knowledgable people there to help you.

What version of Windows are you running? And which antivirus? Also, did the computer place say which version of the antix virus you have? There are a bunch of different ones, and cause different problems and require different fixes. I used to fix those kinds of things for a living.

FYI, This message board is for people running a Linux Operating System called antiX (please note the little a and big X), not for any viruses that may have been given a similar name. Given that the computer shop couldn't remove it, my suggestion is to either try other shops, until you find someone that can, or erase the drives and reload them from original CD's.

Good luck

PS: If it has the BIOS itself password protected, maybe you can find a way to reset it...

http://en.community.dell.com/support...514/t/17119128

Once you get it reset, check the setup to make sure that it boots from CD first, then put a CD in to boot from, erase the drive completely, and reload from original CD's.

That's what I'd do...

not running windows clearly stated running antix os.rhe two computer shops can't break the antix default root code, this a common issue with antix thousands of other pages on it. as the the version number it's unknown when one of the many useless computers try to boot it's comes up with a globe and in big writing antix os . and it will not allow me to change boot order or to boot from media without there root pass code

If you press F12 while it boots (there is a black screen of Dell stuff, you need to press it then) you can change the boot order to put the CD drive first, and put a CD into it, and boot from that. A system rescue cd like Knoppix 7.05 would be a good choice.

Maybe at that point you should save whatever data you want off to a USB flashdrive, and then clear out and reload the hard drive with whatever you want to use in future.

I'm sorry, I've never had the problem of not knowing the password for root on any of my antiX systems, so don't know the solution off hand, but if it is really important, find out what antiX version it is and maybe someone can tell you. It sounds to me like someone else set the machines up and you don't know the correct user id and password to sign on, because in your first post you said ROOT which on a linux system is completely different from root.

It took about 5 min to find a fix to reset the root password. I don't think I'd go back to either of those shops if I were you. Also, I didn't see anyone else running antiX with this problem, but did find a few people running Debian, which is similar.

One word of advice. Try being nice and investigating problems before accusing others of causing them. It might help.

To reboot at the end you need to enter:
Code:
/etc/init.d/reboot stop
