MEPIS User Assistant puts my user account on wrong partition

When I installed a new copy of MEPIS (I'm still using MEPIS 8, because I dislike KDE 4 and don't have the time or inclination to learn a new desktop manager), I specified a separate partition for /home.

Well, after everything was installed, I messed up my new user account by trying to overwrite it with all the files from my old user account (to preserve all my settings) from the previous MEPIS installation; so I deleted my entire user account and made a new one. The new user account wasn't made on the separate partition I specified during installation, but on the same partition with the operating system. Why? Is there anything else I can do to make sure any new user accounts get put on the partition I made for them? In the MEPIS User Assistant, I didn't see any option to specify the partition where /home should be, but why should I have to anyway? I specified it during installation.

By default, user accounts will be created in the /home directory.

The partition to be mounted at /home is specified in /etc/fstab. To see what is actually mounted, open a terminal and enter "mount".
