MEPIS as a Webserver???
I want to make a web server using Mepis 6.0 on a Pentium 3 with 128 MB of ram. Will this run okay? It will be a dedicated web server. Mostly for some church websites so not a lot of traffic.
Second, what are some easy to use antivirus and firewalls I can use for this? Free ones ofcourse :) Thank you for your help |
I don't see why would it would be a problem running a homebrewed webserver. Give it a go!
I believe Mepis already comes installed with a firewall (Guarddog) and antivirus (KlamAV). Look in your KDE menu because it is all there for me. I am using Mepis 6.0 |
Does it come with anything to make it a webserver? Or do I need to download Apache? Is there anything else other than apache?
|
Yes, you will need to download and install apache. I'm sure SYnaptics has it so you can search for it in there.
Just make sure you understand how to configure apache. Read up on the documentation on it. |
