K3b not letting me save files before install of SM6

Two days ago I received my SM6 live CD but haven't been able to install it due to the following K3b problem. Before wiping my single hard drive in preparation for installation of SM6, I'd like to burn a CD holding various /home files & folders and some other files but K3b won't let me do this due to an error.

At the moment, with SM3.4-3, I use K3b 0.12.16 (using KDE 3.5.3). When I've set up in K3b all the files I want to burn onto a CD, I get this error from K3b:

"Couldn't determine size of resulting image." [All the files & folders I want to save are less than the capacity size of a CD-RW which is what I'd use.]

I'd like to install SM6 but won't 'til I'm able to save various /home files & folders, etc. What do I have to do to fix this K3b problem?

Thanks

Try a smaller amount. One directory or file might be corrupt throwing the error. By chosing a smaller amount, you might miss that item. It might take a couple of CDRs but eventually you will find it.

Thanks for the tip.

Yes bluesman2333, I found that certain *.txt files I wanted to burn onto a CD were unacceptable to K3b because they had been on another computer (a Windows 98 1st Edition computer), were copied from the Windows computer to a floppy, and then transferred to my old OS, SM 3.4-3. So I got rid of those *.txt files and all went well with K3b which nicely burned other files & folders onto the CD. Now I use SM6 and have my old /home files & folders.

:)
