I just decided to make the convert from XP to Mepis. I figured I would make myself learn it
I have two questions that will most likely be followed by many more......
Is there a way to adjust the mouse settings for a laptop?
Also when I went to burn an audio CD it told me that it was an unsupported file? The files were MP3. I had no problem burning the same files to a data CD?
Force yourself? That's a tough way to go, but I guess today's distro's make it easier than ever. I convert a few years back. It took me a year of dual booting to feel fully comfortable switching.
mouse settings- Check the Kcontrol panel. (kde control panel)
cd burning- I suggest you play with the options in k3b some more. Did you select "New Audio Project". I can drag and drop mp3's easily.
When you choose an Audio disk it expects .wav files or similar old style large files
mp3's are considered data files so it works on making a cd which plays in a normal mp3 player
Audio has no directory
mp3 can have so many levels down I think but it must be a data cd
Also run setup in K3b to get the permissions right
I have seen that "unsupported file" message come up in misleading circumstances when k3b or cdrecord or some program didn't like characters in a file name ... like an apostrophe.
yes, he will. It is giving him the unsupported file format error because he doesnt have the proper codec to be able to re-encode the mp3 file on the fly and convert it to cd audio. With the proper codec, he can burn MP3's wavs, aac, ogg, or whatever as cd audio.
