the link i posted said to download mozilla mplayer. i saw this is synaptic, so that's what i tried to download.

i just tried to download mplayer for 386 (my type of intel chip) and i got the following error(s):

mplayer-386:
Depends: libavcodeccvs51 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libavutilcvs49 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libogg0 (>=1.1.3) but 1.1.2-1 is to be installed
Depends: libpango1.0-0 (>=1.10.3) but 1.10.2-1 is to be installed
Depends: libpostproccvs51 but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libvorbis0a (>=1.1.2) but 1.1.0-1 is to be installed
Depends: libxvmc1 but it is not installable

if i had to guess, i'd say that my repositories don't have the required packages. i have the followin grepositories enabled:

http://apt.mepis.org/3.4/
ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/

am i missing a repository?

thanks for the assistance.

Solved

ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/

wasn't enabled in my repository list, so i guess i didn't have access to the dependencies.

i enabled it and it works fine. i guess it wasn't enabled in the initial install b/c i'm sure i didn't disable it.

3.4-3

It seems to be installed by default in SM 3.4-3.

It has kplayer based on Mplayer.

Try installing the latest MEPIS
