Can i install packages from Debian Cds

Hello, i'm mainly a debian user, but think mepis could have a lot of potential, but there's one problem i find, which i happen to encounter with all kde distros, the network manager; i hate it; and always use network-manager-gnome instead. I love kde, but hate there network manager. In slackware i used slackbuilds to use gnomes, and in Debian, i had the dvds and was able to install it from there. I would like to try Mepis a bit more, but i can't access the internet because of the kde network manager. I was wondering if it's possible to install gnomes network manager from Debians dvd set onto Mepis?

Well what exactly are the issues are you having? Can you see your network devices?

Cheers,

Josh

hello, no i couldn't mobile broadband and wireless were greyed out. ive solved the issue now by removing kde plasman network manager, and mepis network assistant, and manually picking out gnomes network manager and all its dependencies off the debian dvd and installing them with dpkg. i couldnt add the dvd to the sources.list with apt-cdrom add for some reason.

Oh ok. Well do you want the other stuff to work, or is it all good like you want it?

well its all good, but i'd like to know why apt-cdrom add didn't work. its not important though, ive been turned off mepis, its not the distrobution i imagined it to be. think ill stick with good ol' plain debian. ill mark the thread solved. thankyou.
