Howdy,
I'm a linux newbie and please bare with me!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no problem actually booting from the CD. But, i can't get into the kernal!!! What happens is I will let the boot countdown, then Mepis tries to initialize and i get this message "Can't find filesystem, Halting" I have tried booting with New Hardware, Old Hardware, and Safe with no luck. I have no clue why this is happening. I previously installed SimpleMepis on my old Dell Inspiron 3500 laptop with no problems. Yesterday, i throw the CD into the Dell and it booted up find. I am absolutely out of ideas. Please help....

Intel 925XVC Motherboard
Intel 2.8GHrz processor with HT Technology
Plextor PX-712SA (SATA Interface)
Seagate 160GB Hard Drive (SATA interface)
Ati Raedon X300 Video Card (PCI Express)

My guess is that if you are having trouble with multiple installs over different machines, it is the CD. It sounds like you are saying you used this same CD in the past, so my guess is that it has gotten scratched or degraded somehow. The test would be to burn a new one. Someone else might know if there is a way to check the Md5 sum on your CD too.
