Xorg includes
guys this is my first post. I am not new to linux but i am still lerning. I moved from Fedora to Mandrake 10.1 (download edition). Now i have a problem none of the softwares install from source. They do not find the X includes. I cannot run a urpmi and get it off the internet as i am unable to connect to internet from Linux :(
i check the 3 Cd's they do not include Xorg-devel. I have searched the internet but am unable to find a soln to my problem . I need the rpm file for xorg development so i can download it and install it. btw i am trying to install some themes for kde from source. |
you cd's WILL include xorg-devel. no question about it, your just not looking in the right places. might possibly be called xorg-x11-devel or similar, but it IS there.

I couldn't install anything from source with mandrake 10.1, its a pain, someone told me as soon as you have the internet then you update everything and then everything should work. But on a 56k connection its just a pain.

If you need to compile anything from source, then you will need dependent packages that are usually available on your installation CDs or Mandrake rpm repositories.

Mandrake makes it so harder now for people who don't have there linux computer connected to the net yet.

nope not found
note i do not have the l 4 Cd setup. its a 3 CD distro the 4th cd (kde3.4) is not with me. The magzine where i got the distro from did not provide it. here is the packages i found in the 3 CD's for *xorg* CD1 : libxorg-x11-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm xorg-x11-100dpi-fonts-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm xorg-x11-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm xorg-x11-75dpi-fonts-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm xorg-x11-glide-module-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm xorg-x11-server-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm xorg-x11-xfs-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm xorg-x11-Xvfb-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm CD2 : xorg-x11-cyrillic-fonts-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm vxorg-x11-Xnest-6.7.0-3mdk.i586.rpm CD3: none |
If you have a fast internet connection then use urpmi to install the missing packages. You can find info about urpmi a zebulon.org.uk and instructions on how to set it up at easyurpmi. if you don't have a fast net connection you may have to download from one of the mirrors listed on the Mandriva website, but this can be an annoying procedure coz its slow and you may have to download more packages to fulfill required dependencies.

Suse 9.2 free dvd is missing this as well.
