OK... I can admit when I am beaten
I have been beating myself against the wall of X11 for a few days now and now that I have dragged my battered carcas back to the keyboard I am asking for assistance.
The hardware:
ASUS A7V
Athlon 1000
640 MB RAM
200GB ATA100
40GB ATA100
ATI Radeon 64 DDR VIVO (Radeon 7200 or R100 core)
Mandriva 2005 LE
I am having major issues getting X11 6.8.2 to output video through my Radeon's composite port.
I have enabled composite in the xorg.conf file.
When I tested the composite connection this morning it was showing a blank "green" screen on the TV. But no movie that I was playing via Totem.
Is there some trick to tell Mandriva or Totem or some other video player to output its stream to the composite port on the Radeon ?
I formerly had this card running under Winblows and the composite port was easily configured using the ATI control panel ie TV only, TV and Monitor Monitor only etc. If only there was something similar for Linux.
I am at work now so I can't paste the config files but I can do that when I get home later today.
Any suggestions on where to start looking ?
