Hello,

everything was working fine with my mdk 9.2 when suddently: no way to get the Xwindows started !
- First I was using a graphical login: all user appeared on it (bart, root, httpd, mail, cdrom;etc !!!),
when I clicked on the normal user + password -> black screen then come back to the original page with the graphical login ! and it was the same with any user (root inclueded)

- Then I use the failsafe mde to start in text mode:
the i was able to sart an X session fo root (using startx), but still not for the normal user "bart" ....

How can I fix this pb ? I red the log file and there is no visible error or difference between a root login and a "bart" login !

This suggestion will probably fix part of the problem but maybe not the entire problem:
Log in as root.
Run kcontrol (Control Center)
Click on Systen Administration - > Login Manager -> Users

Then work on that page until you get the list of users displayed on the login screen correct.
