X.org and standard Mandrake 10.1 fonts

So i did an 'urpmi --auto-select' on Cooker ftp's and I'm still alive! Anyway, apparently X.org replaced XFree86 and doesn't know how to render fonts. I messed around with the font settings in KDE but it didn't change anything. They still look ugly. Anyone know how to fix this?

edit:
This is my new and not so much improved Firefox look (the problem isn't limited to Firefox):

I tried to update to X.org too using Gnome. The font support/server is absolutely pathetic IMHO. I ended up downgrading to XFree86.

It's not an opinion, it's a fact! Common, look at it. And it's supposed to be better.

Are us Mandrake users the only people affected? I swear I tried FC2 and its fonts were just the same and just as unusable.
