X.Org 6.8.2 Upgrade

Hi,

I'm quite a novice when it comes to Linux, so bear with me. I am running Mandrake 10.1 x86-64.

How would I go about upgrading to X.Org 6.8.2?

I have downloaded three files (.gz, .bz2, .Z) but am unsure how to go about doing the upgrade and I don't want to mess anything up.

Thanks.

I don't know how to compile from source, but you can get it from the Mandrake cooker. They have 6.8.2 already on there and people have reported success using it.
