Angry WLAN PCMCIA locks system

When I insert my WLAN PCMCIA card, it freezes the system, until I remove it.
Tried with a PCMCIA floppy and it works...

Its a acx100 based card, Topcom Skyr@cer 3044...

BTW, it work one hour ago in deb, so it works...

Yeah the kernel is unable to deal with the resource allocations for the PCMCIA device, hence the lockup.

Did you disable ACPI? (which should be ON!).

Look at /etc/lilo.conf

If you see something like

acpi=ht

or

acpi=off

then ACPI is disabled.

Also note that there are some problems with AGP drivers sometimes if the PCMCIA services are correctly configured.

I posted on a thread where someone was trying to get a Dell Truemobile Mini-PCI card to work on their system, information which is applicable in this case.

ACPI in on.

Giving up and going back to deb, mandrake seems way to messy...

This has nothing to do with Mandrake and is not distro specific.

Rather it is related to the kernel in use and how it handles events and devices.

A newer kernel (or older one) may not have these issues.

So if it works in another distro, merely use the same kernel as the other distro.
