windows xp printer and cups

the problem is I have a printer on a windows xp computer, I can see the computer and printer via samba if I scan as user with password. But I need to install the printer via cups (only way I know how) and I cant figure out how to get it to reconize the windows xp comp, since it requires a username and pass to see it.

May you give us a little more info on the printer itself? Such as the manufacturer, model, etc.

Its an hp laser jet 1300. I know it works fine in mandrake 9.2 and mandrake has the drivers to print to it, because it used to be hooked up to my computer, but i had to move it to the xp machine. Did a search and noticed a few other people have this problem and i know a few other linux users who would like to get this problem solved too.

I was able to fix the problem by using kde print management ap which allows me to add a user and pass to connect to a computer with.
