Windows/Mandrake dualboot unstable

I have Mandrake and Win98 installed on 2 different hard drives. Mandrake is installed as the root drive and windows is detected as hdc. I am using LILO as my bootloader.

When I select windows, it will boot to windows, but it takes approx. 5 -6 mins to just boot to the windows desktop. Also, while using the windows drive, it is very unstable and will lock up for up to ten minutes before being able to even move the mouse. I have unplugged the linux drive and booted to windows just fine without these problems.

My lilo.conf file has this for the windows drive:

other=/dev/hdc1 (cant remeber actual path, it was like /dev/target0/lun0/ or something like that)
label=Windows
boot-as=0x80 (i found this in the lilo.conf tutorial file in man lilo.conf)

Do you have any ideas to why my windows drive is so unstable?

maybe it has a problem running from a drive other than /dev/hda. I once had huge problems getting Win2k to run from /dev/hdb. But with windows, who can tell?

If you switch to GRUB bootloader, I think you can do some sort of virtual drive switching. Maybe you can do it on LILO too but I don't know how. Maybe someone else can help?
