I know very little about character encoding on Mozilla, but since noone else answered I will:
Mozilla is OLD!!!! You can install firefox with urpmi. "urpmi mozilla-firefox" on the command line as root ("su" command). If this does not work, then: Google "firefox" and install it  Firefox is the sucessor of Mozilla. Mozilla in not even being produced anymore. Firefox is also the sucessor of Netscape, thought Netscape is still produced (only god knows way ... it is just a copy of Mozilla now a days) |
try setting your default LANG environment variable
in the file /home/username/.bash_profile add those lines : export LANG = en_US.UTF8 export LANGUAGE = en_US.UTF8 |
Please tell me the difference between
- export LANG=en_US.UTF8 and - export LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF8 are these definitions case sensitive ? and are there spaces around the "=" symbol ? |
Please help a 15 years old boy

To the original poster: Character encodings are usually, but not always, sent by the server. On other occasions it's set by the web page itself, usually as a <META> tag. You can set your browser to use UTF-8, but keep in mind if the page is encoded differently, some characters will appear as either the "unknown glyph" or as gibberish. It's probably best to allow auto-detect. |

"The name Mozilla had been used internally as a codename for the Netscape Navigator web browser from its beginning." - From Wikipedia. Mozilla IS a standalone browser besides being a project. Why don't you google "mozilla"? Even if you were right you still would be dead wrong in coming here talking like that. GROW UP!!! Quote:

Wikipedia is hardly synonymous with accuracy in any case. Netscape is a different fork of the Gecko codebase, like Galeon, K-Meleon, et al. They have been separate products for several years. I don't need to Google anything; I'm somewhat intimate with the Mozilla project, as I've done bug-testing for them. Maybe it's you that should Google. Call me a troll all you want. You aren't the first, you won't be the last. But at least I don't give nonsensical and non-factual advice to people and then quote spurious sources like Wikipedia when I'm proven wrong. Visit http://www.mozilla.org/ and look for yourself. Cheers. |
