Where is kde source or kdebase directory in Mandrake 10?
Greetings!
I am trying to install some patch for kde 3.2 and I am trying to find the $KDEDIR/kdebase where $KDEDIR is where kde keeps its source code. So far after hours, no luck.
Can anyone tell me where to find it in Mandrake 10?
I managed to install all the rpms relating to kde, such as kde-common and such...
Thanks for the advice, i went and installed the source packages but, i don't know where they have installed to. I looked hard, but I guess i am just blind, maybe too used to looking at it.
Where do they install the source to?
i am trying to patch using gnu patch, and i need kde source files, i don't know where it is located in mandrake.
/usr/src/packages or /usr/src/rpms or something like that (I dont remember well).
there the sources are in the SOURCES directory. And there are spec files in the SPEC directory. The spec files are used as script to build the rpms. Google for srpm stuff; I'm sure there are a lot of howtos out there
If you installed the source from rpms, you can turn on the maximum information in the Software Manager. Right click on the right hand panel and select maximum information. Scroll down to the files: area. The files that come with the package are displayed.
Otherwise, after install a package you could enter the find command to locate new files. E.G., find /usr -cmin -5 will locate new files located in the /usr hierarchy that were created in the last 5 minutes. Doing this will often reveal documentation that is installed with packages.

If a KDE program needs to be patched, it is possibly covered by the Mandrake update.
