When updating Mandrake, where does Rpmdrake save the files?

Hi all.

I'm updating Mandrake, from GUI, and want to know where Rpmdrake saves the RPM's it is downloading.

I did a search by typing: "find / name_of_RPMmdk.rpm" (without the quotes), but without results. The GUI application Find Files is not good at all, it just not work (at least for me).

Could it be that Mandrake erases the files after install them?

Another question would be: Is Rpmdrake a frontend for urpmi? I guess it is, but I want to be sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

they go to /var/cache/urpmi/rpms. if all installs go well, it auto cleans the directory, so you should see nothing in there. if a download/install is interupted or cancelled in the middle of it, then they go to /var/cache/urpmi/partial. upon restart of the downloads, that directory will be searched & only downloads that haven't been stored there will be needed.

a bit more info................ all application header files are stored in /var/cache/urpmi/headers. all your source info, hdlists, etc. are stored in /var/lib/urpmi. various other info is stored in /var/lib/urpmi.

Thank you otis. That was really helpful.

I'm seeing it right now, downloading the packages (/var/cache/urpmi/partial).

And now I know that if one wants to keep the RPM's, S/He should use urpmi --noclean instead of Rpmdrake.

Thank you again.
