What do the colours mean in the terminal?

Using Mandrake 10 and the bash terminal, what do the various colours mean? I know that blue is a directory and I think green is an executable file, but what about the rest? Purple? Orange?

it depends on what file extension are assigned to them via the LS_COLORS system setting.

check the man page for the default color assignments (man dir_colors)

Or look in the file /etc/DIR_COLORS it will list them there.
