what app to use to convert ogg to mp3 or wav under Community 10.1

Any ideas what built-in apps can convert ogg files to mp3 or wav?

If you have your urpmi sources set up, including a plf source, the answer is on your own computer. Simply fire up Mandrake control center, open "install software" and in the search bar type what you are looking for. Use bare minimum of words possible. This is what you will find if you type in "ogg". Along with many other ogg appz. Just highlight them to get a description of what it does.

Name: ogg2mp3
Version: 0.3-1plf
Size: 16 KB

Summary: Convert ogg music files to mp3 music files.

Description: Perl script to convert ogg files into mp3 format. Note that the conversion is lossy.

This is basically an inverted version of Nathan Walp's mp32ogg

This is Alpha, so be careful.

Silly question: how do I launch this app once it's installed?

Never mind, I got it. Change into directory and then ogg2mp3 *.ogg Thanks

I would expect to find a shortcut created under sound in the multimedia section of your kicker menu.

If not, click on the "run command" in the kicker menu and simply type the name of program you wish to start :
ogg2mp3

As Lakota posted, setting up the URPMI sources is the first thing you should do.

By installing things via the "Install Software" menu after doing so, you'll find not only a plethora of new applications instantly available to you, but that they get easily added and installed into the menu.

The "Install Software" application also downloads and installs anything which these packages may also require to operate, all without your intervention.
