Wallper picture disappeaed or shrunk, now its black with grey bar on top?

Hello I'm using Mandriva and the Desktop picture running as wallpaper disappeared replaced with a black screen. The icons in system tray are all there and work, there is a grey bar along the top of screen, but the wallpaper picture does not show, even though desktop manager shows it should be there. Cannot find a way to correct, any ideas?

Here is what it looks like:

Gnome3 in fallback?

Just a wild guess...

I have no idea, how or why this happened.

If I run Mandriva in safemode, it brings up the default wallpaper, if I try to change the wallpaper picture, the picture screen remains black.

Here is how I resolved this issue go to: Menu>Tools> System Tools> Mandrake Control Center> Hardware> Browse and Configure Hardware> Videocard> expand down-arrow> select video card> run confg tool> Test , and that corrected my problem, then reboot system.
