VT8233 [AC97 Audio Controller] only playing CDs

When I installed Mandrake 9.2, it detected both of my soundcards fine. I only use my Sound Blaster Live for the gameport at the moment, but if more information on that is needed please ask.

Besides that, it seems like it will only play CDs. I cannot get MIDIs to play, be it website or actual file on computer. Neither sound on flash videos or programs work. Here are some stats Linux gave me:

Vendor: ?VIA Technologies

Alternative drivers: ?via82cxxx_audio

Bus: ?PCI

Bus identification: ?1106:3059:1462:7120

Location on the bus: ?0:11:5

Description: ?VT8233 [AC97 Audio Controller]

Module: ?snd-via82xx

Media class: ?MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO

Any help on why it only has sound with CDs?
