vlc 1.1.11 crashes

Can anybody help whenever I load a playlist to vlc it starts to play the first title (about 3 seconds) and then crashes.

Start VLC from a shell instead of clicking the icon. There will, hopefully, be some messages VLC spits out that may help diagnose the problem.

How about the output when you load a playlist? Wasn't that the problem you were having? Also, you might want execute VLC inside gdb and get a backtrace when it crashes.

Did you run VLC inside gdb and get a backtrace? You should do that so you can figure out why VLC seg faults.
