video mode not supported
I had just tried installing Mandrake 9.1 for the first time, everything worked out during the installation but after the first reboot and OS boot menu (linux, fail safe, windows etc) went by, the only thing that came up was a white "video mode not supported" window with 3 colors (red, green and blue) bouncing around a black screen, I tried reinstalling linux to try to setup the monitor/video card configurations but that didn't make any difference,
I got this issue before during game clips but updating the monitor drivers fixed that, but I can't do that this time since it happens too early on startup. My video card is a Radeon 9200, and my monitor is a 19" Samsung 193v, anybody got any ideas?:D |
at the command prompt, type
XF86Config (or was it XF86config?) THen change your video resolution and vertical/horizontal refresh rates to whatever it is that is available for your monitor. It has to be EXACT down to the tenths place. no guessing! |
