Video card not compatible

I installed mandrakelinux 10.1 on my notebook.
Notebook configuration:
centrino 1.5Ghz
ati mobility radeon 9700
256 ram
Acer

I think that my video card is not compatible because i have no image when I start linux.Do you know a solution for my problem.

Could you please help me.

Can you be more specific when you say that you get no image? When does it happen? Can you still go into the console?

Can you boot into fail-safe mode and still arrive at the command prompt? You can change your graphics card/monitor settings by running AS ROOT:

Code:

xorgconfig

and also by running

Code:

xf86config

I don't know what the difference is between the two, but I would run them both. Let us know if this works or not.
