urpmi repository for CE ?

Hi,

I would like to run the Community version of Mandrake but I don't understand the differences between the 10CE option and 'plain' CE option that are available on the EasyUrpmi website. Could someone explain the difference?

Moreover, I've seen many posts with people having problems (erased mbr...) installing from the 10CE cds. Will I get a fully functionnal (whatever this means) CE running if I install from 10OE cds and then change the urpmi repository to CE?

Does mandrake plan on releasing new CE isos soon? (I mean before the already planned September release?)

Thank you

Goudi

Hi goudi,

I'd personally be inclined to choose the "10.0 Community" repository. Looks like there's not a lot of difference between the "10.0 Community' and the "community" resposatories. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have Mandrake CE running without hassles. However, milage may vary -- I've seen people complain of all sorts of instability, etc, using Mandrake 10.0 CE, whereas I've had a pretty smooth ride.

My advice would be to snare the Mandrake 10.0 "Official" ISOs rather than the Mandrake 10.0 Community ISOs. MDK10.0 CE was released some months back, and it was basically a beta release. Mandrake 10.0 Official is only a few weeks old, and should have a lot more fixes, and therefore stability, than CE.

Cheers,
Tim
