urpmi default options mdk 10.0

Hello there

I'm wondering if there is a way to keep all downloaded packages in the cache.
I'm aware of adding the '--noclean' option but would rather make this permanent.
I've had a look urpmi's code and see some possibilities but don't want to mess things up (i suppose i could back it up and have a go).
It would be nice if there was a way to possibly add something before the post-clean routine that would copy the packages to a pre-defined folder.
I would also like to have urpmi use wget instead of curl by default instead of using --wget all the time.
Maybe setting up an alias or piping commands could achieve some of this?

Are there any reasons why the cache should be cleaned other disk space issues?

Thanks in advance
