hi buddy's
i have intel pentium4(x86 family), 512mb ram have no graphics card, coz my mother board supports but the problem is i am not able to install Linux mandriva 2008(the kernel files load and the monitor goes blank wherein it has to show graphical/verbose installation)and moreover i am not able to enable 3d desktop effects of fedora 7. is that i need a graphics card? plz help me out
duddywoody, please provide a more detailed post of what stage of the Mandriva install you have got to. Also what is the make of the onboard graphics (or provide the motherboard model).

If you are attempting to boot the 'Live CD' do the following: Press Alt+Ctrl+F1, then login: root password: root. Now type: XFdrake and press enter. Press enter again then find and select the Vesa driver and press enter to get back to the main menu. I suggest you do a test before closing the main menu. Type: exit and press enter to leave root mode. Do Alt+F7 you should now have a display.
