I presently am running Mandriva 2007.1 on my workstation and would like to upgrade it to 2008. I downloaded the 2008 CD from a Mandriva mirror, but it turns out that is a live CD and, while it supports installation, it does not appear to support upgrades - which is quite surprising.
Does anyone here know how to upgrade to 2008?
I am not interested in responses that say "don't upgrade, reinstall". I never reinstall. I haven't reinstalled Mandriva since Mandrake 7.2, and I don't intend to start now.
I dunno; maybe I am missing something obvious. But I should be able to conveniently upgrade.
Edit:
It may be that I did miss something obvious. I am now downloading a DVD version of the 2008 distro; I suspect this is what I should have done originally instead of downloading the CD iso.
These notes suggest that you can still use the urpmi method to upgrade.

Um... sounds like you got Mandriva One instead of Mandriva Free.

Yes, it turns out that I had Mandriva One, but I didn't understand that it was ONLY a live CD; thought I could use it for upgrades.
I downloaded Mandriva Free, and went at it, and boy was it ever a mess!
Turns out I have a HD problem on my system drive; a failure is commencing. However, I didn't realize that before I started the upgrade. Also turns out that the DVD I burned with Mandriva Free 2008 is, shall we say, less than perfect and sometimes doesn't read correctly. Of course, that particular problem wasn't reported to me by the Mandriva installer; it just skipped some packages when it couldn't read them.
So, I wound up with an upgrade that was somewhat hosed. I've mostly sorted it out but there are still some KDE issues, and I am still shopping for a new system hard drive. I use SCSI drives so I can't just pick one up off the shelf and I'm trying to find the best deal for what I need. My diagnostic/repair software is keeping me going for now, but I can't do that forever.
I guess when I changed the power supply in my workstation a couple of months ago, I shouldn't have dropped my system drive onto the concrete floor, huh? C'est la vie.

No reason why it should - you're supposed to burn at a low speed and run a mediacheck first.
