Upgrade to Mandrake 9.2 completely broke video
I recently *cough*Upgraded*cough* from Mandrake 9.1 to 9.2. When I rebooted, I got a a pleasant suprise when I found that all of my video players were completely broken. Xine, Kaboodle, Noatun, even the previewer in KDE. Xine won't even *start.*
Since this is system-wide rather than limited to a single program, it must be something that was done with system-wide libraries. This is abolutely driving me insane! If I try to start Xine from the console, I get the very helpful messge: "Main: All available video drivers failed." Using the KDE Previewer gets this on the bottom label: "Error: ARTs cannot load this file." The others start, but they simply refuse to do anything with video. What in God's name did Mandrake do to my libraries and how do I fix it or undo it?!?!? PS: However, even though all of the video file players are broken, X still starts and I continue to have full use of my video capture card (???). |
