update kernel on mandriva le 2005


hi
i tried to update my kernel from 2.6.11-6 to 2.6.11-12
i did :

[root@localhost cyril]# urpmi kernel-2.6.11.12

but when i boot i don't get X...furthermore seems like the bootsplash is disabled.

i'll give some information :

finally i ran the dkms service and it installed the nvidia module at boot time
and it works...
but tty1 is no more with the theme as it used to be with the old kernel
i will reboot again to see if any problem appear...
