Unable to configure Ethernet connection on Mandrake 10.1

Hi all,
I was using Mandrake 9.2 on my laptop Compaq Evo N800c without any problem.
Yesterday I started a fresh install of Mandrake 10.1 official (md5 ok).
I got the following error:

An unexpected error has happened:
Can't locate encoding.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usrbin/perl-install ./usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/
etc.
etc.) at /usr/bin/perl-install/network/adsl_consts.pm line 8.
BEGIN failed-compilation aborted at/usr/bin/perl-install/network/adsl_consts.pm line 8
Compilation failed in require at/usr/bin/perl-install/network/ntconnect.pm line 717

I'm using ADSL now in Mandrake 9.2, and I did the same also in Mandrake 8.1 (using an older laptop) , without any problem.
I'm not able to solve the situation.

Thank you very much for any help, as you can understand, i'm still a beginner....

Leo.

This is happening when you install?

If so then I suggest you try to burn the CD again. Make sure it is clean and not scratched.

Well Leo, all I can do for now is reassure you about Mandrake 10.1 working on Ethernet because I'm typing this using it with no prob.

Check what the previous poster suggested, possible failure during install. Otherwise do you use dhcp, static IP ?

Your ISP should provide you with all the info about that. Did you check your :

cat /etc/resolv.conf ? It should return your nameserver (and domain, sometimes), it must match with the info given by your isp

Hope that helps a bit

Cheers

Thanks !

I've found that the error is due to a bad Lan self configuration during the installation of Mandrake - I reinstalled it without letting him configure the lan and adsl and then I configured them by hand - now it works well.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions !
