Question typing french characters in Mandrake 9.1

Dear all,

How does one type special french characters with andrake 9.1 such as è, ç etc. I am able to do tis very easily in winblows using alt+0232 for è etc. But what is the equivalent in Mandrake 9.1 and specifically KDE? Do I have to recompile the kernel for this support or something or is there a simpler solution?

Please help. I dont want to turn to winblows for my french needs or for any needs for that matter. Imagine being dependent on winblows (YUCK!!!!)

Bye
Arun

typing French characters in Mandrake 9.1

Hi Arun,

You will be pleased to know that it is really easy to type in French characters in Mandrake.

from the main KDE menu :-

Configuration/KDE/Accessability/Keyboard Layout

and then check "Enable Keyboard Layouts" and away you go...you can toggle between English & French keyboards from the task bar in the bottom right hand corner (just next to the clock).

jdw

P.S. This assumes that you chose to instal the French locale & KDE files when you installed MDK.

Which KDE Files? I installed the French LocaleFiles from the CD.But I am not getting the "Enable Keyboard Layouts" in the above menu as stated by you.

Which other RPMs need to be installed??
