Two questions on installation

First question:
If I buy mandrake 10 official, and windows in on my computer, what do I have to do to install it? Will I have to go into bios and boot from cd? If so, is it CLEARLY explained how this is done because I don't have a clue how lol (I'm a total newb, which is why I want to get into linux to change that)

Second question:
I'm looking to install MD10 official on a laptop. I'm having trouble finding if these parts are supported, here's an overview:
Hitachi 60GB 7200rpm HD
2.0 GHz pentium M (that's the dothan)
2 x 1024 sticks of DDR333 Corsair memory
not sure about the brands for the rest of it atm, just trying to get some idea, thanks.

to get into your BIOS on a laptop, you have to press the F2 key while the laptop is booting.
Thus said, it sounds like(correct me if I am wrong here) you don't know much about computers in general and NOTHING about manrake in particular. So I'd suggest you forget about installing Mandrake for now, but instead go to the nearest bookstore and get a few good books about computers and Linux. Study them first. Experiment. Once you begin to understand what and where and how your computer works, the next step would be to begin learnin' what makes Linux different from Windoze. I'd suggest downloading and trying KNOPPIX first, because that doesn't install on yoru harddrive.

In short, you need to do some serious readin' BEFORE you attempt messing with Mandrake.
