Anybody know of an RPM that will actually let transcode install on a fresh install of Mandrake 9.1 ?
So far all i run into is endless dependency problems, like all the RPM s' at RPM find, I've tried the plf joke, that won't install anything, I also can't find a version that will compile from source, like the one from mandrake's download site.
So I'm hoping someone has got it to work on a mandrake system before, atleast with known dependencies.
Yes it works just fine as far as I can tell, and I can get transcode to start installing, then dependencies, then as always installation fails, on almost every program. actually i think plf is more of a sick joke because my system started going to thier site and made my install cds useless because I couldn't any longer get programs off them with rpm drake, that forced me to have to reinstall mandrake, if I knew who was behind that, they'd be missing some teeth right about now! What makes this soooooooo agrevating is the fact that none of this stuff really seems to work on linux, then this is the only support I can find, because all other documentation on the net so far seems to be for version 4.0! Transcode seems to be a popular enough program yet nobody seems to be able to get it working, and when they claim they do, they can't say how, even makes me wonder more. So I'm trying to figure out if I have the wrong distro for dvd ripping?
well
open a terminal
su to root
and type
urpmi.update
this should restore the cd's as a source repositry
i have had a lot of working software from plf and havent had any problems yet and mplayer from there supports and plays quite recent dvd's whereas the default mplayer that ships with mdk9.1 couldnt manage it
i have installed transcode from there before with no problem
the thing about the urpmi command is it gets dependencies as well as the named package
i just tick the austria graz box and the plf and the tex box
click proceed
copy the code into the terminal and bingo
45mins later (ish) (i'm on dial up) it's ready
