Trying to Install packets from wrong cdrom on Mandriva LE 2005

Ok this is prolly a very dumb question but i installed Mandriva from DVD (hdd) and now when i
try to install new packets from the DVD (auto install) it tries to install from hdc witch is a CD-RW and does read DVDs bit poorly

Where can i change the default installation drive so it is even possible for me to give the installer the DVD it asks for

oh and i almost forgot.. /dev/hdc (CD-RW) is mounted as /cdrom1
and /dev/hdd (DVDROM) as /cdrom2
just in case that makes a difference

I would (and do) deleted the disk(s) as available update sources and instead use urpmi (google easyurpmi).

You have to go into 'Configure Your Computer', then 'Software Management' then first to 'Choose Software Sources' to delete the disks, then go online to easyurpmi and follow the simple directions there.

that seems like wasting time and bandwidth

I did give you the street-directions to do what you wanted.

But bear in mind that the files used to instal your system are being updated all the time and the dvd is NOT.

The route I suggested gives you up to date files when you need files, not files that may be insecure or inefficient.

Even if you have a powerpack (ie. paid for version) DVD there is a hell of a lot more software available from the easyurpmi repositories than came on the DVD. For example things like video (divx, wma, asf etc.) playback and DVD playing. You should keep the easyurpmi repositories as well as the DVD software sources.
