Trying Out MDK92, What File System Should I Use?

I noticed quite a few file system choices. I've only used EXT3 previously. What are the differences between the filesystems? (ext, ext2, ext3, Reiser, XFS and JFS notably).

What would one pick that is concerned about speed and security? (More so the speed).

I think Reiserfs is pretty good and safe.

I use ext3 on all of my partitions.

Cheers.

I use reiserfs on my Gentoo. After a few power problems and crashes it still chugs along fine.

Ext3 and reiserfs are safe though. I would recommend that you use ext2 or ext3 for the /boot though. I read that sometimes there can be a problem with mounting the /boot if it is reiserfs when it first starts to boot and is looking for the kernel. Never had it but why ask for trouble.

I have a how to guide in the answers section if you need something to help guide you through the install.
