Suspend to disk possible on desktop?

Hi,
Has anyone succeeded in getting the suspend to disk feature working on Mandrake 10.1 for a desktop system?
When I issue
echo "disk" > /sys/power/state
The screen goes black momentarily then returns to normal.
I have Mandrake offical 10.1 and AMD, Nforce2 PC.
I'm fairly sure my PC supports suspend because it works fine under Windows 2000.
I have a feeling that Mandrake only installs this feature when it detects that it's being installed on a laptop.

There two types of suspend feature: one is software suspend and other uses hardware. While software suspend works with every system. But other one doesn't works with every hardware around
