Sudo: broken pipe

Whenever I try to run anything as sudo I get the following error.

[danny@Tri-x ~]$ sudo '/home/danny/Desktop/'
Broken pipe
[danny@Tri-x ~]$

This applies to anything that I use with the sudo command, can anyone ever help me?

What distribution? Do you have a space after 'sudo'? Did you read the man page for sudo? Are the permissions on the file set properly?
